The mother's touch

I showed many of my friends this picture, but none really understood the meaning of it, they all thought it has something to do with religion and it reminded them of jesus. I still don't know why :/ This also reminds me of a poem by Randall Jarrell, "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" From my mother's sleep I fell into the State, And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze. Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life, I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighers. When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose. The soldier left the caring arms of this mother to save his country. He promised to return someday with the Badge of Honor. Six miles from earth he flew, on the surface was his mom crying for his return. Now he is six miles from ground with his mother on the surface is still crying for his return. Everyone has a mother, so love her and cherish her when you still can.
