I wanted to do a series based on melting ice, so I found an interesting fern frond which was dried out. Having put the leaf into water frozen it, added hot water, and food colouring, sent it back to the freezer, removed it an hour later then took a set of images( which will end up here somewhere I'm sure ) when i had finished I threw the lot into the kitchen sink, assuming I would return later and just throw out the leaf. On passing the sink I noticed the leaf had started to come free from the block of ice, and water had started to pool inside the block...all going to prove even the discards have their value :)
