The body of water that separates Vancouver Island from the southern British Columbia lower mainland where Vancouver is situated. Salt Spring Island's mountains can be seen silhouetted by the setting sun to the right of the sun while Victoria lies not far behind the pointiest peak, Mount Tuam, to it's left. If you jump in a boat from south Richmond and know where they are, you can always find resident Orca pods as well as Greys as they make their yearly migration from Baha,Mexico all the way up to the rich feeding grounds along Alaska's coastal waters.
