Red Wedding: Marriage of Persephone

oil on wrapped canvas, 20"X20" This is an abstract done with palette knife and brush. It is very textured and thick. Persephone married the Greek God of the underworld, Hades. Her mother, Demeter, was so distressed by this as she would live in the underworld of hell, but bargained with the underworld king, so that Persephone was able to spend half the year on the earth. For this reason, we have the changing of the seasons. When Persphone is here, we have spring and summer and when she goes underground to live with Hades, we have fall and winter.
