I have collected seaglass my whole life it seems. When I was a kid I would collect bits of pottery and seaglass from the cliffs and rocky shores of Maine, and now as an adult I live across from a beach and it is teaming with seaglass. The colors are rare and some are super rare, dating back centuries when they used to put silt in the glass to make what they term "black" glass, which when held up to the light is a dark green or brown for old alcohol bottles. Reds are very rare and you usually only find 1 in 5,000 pieces of glass you pick up. My favorites are blues, and now that plastic has taken the world over, these little gems are more rare than ever before. July 2008
