Fragile Life

Years ago, our cat caught this baby rabbit, who died before we could save it. So that it would not have died in vain, I positioned the bunny in a lifelike stance and drew it. Our other cat was agreeable with staying indoors, but this one insisted on going outdoors and killing things. After a while, I couldn't keep up with her supply of victims, so I would seal the small, dead animals in Seal-A-Bags and freeze them for drawing later. One day, the children's favorite babysitter, an older Englishwoman, found the packages of remains in the bottom rack of the freezer. After that day, she never came back to babysit.
