The Young Muelas

A large and good example from the series Felix Fiigenschou did on the high society in Spain around 1632. Measuring 90 x 115 cm. This canvas is measuring 90 by 115 cm and is complimented with a heavy gilt frame. The varnish is rather heavily cracked in patches, but overall this is a nice piece with only minor restoration to the surfaces. I similar painting was sold to the Steinman Collection in 2005 from the grand Retrospective Exhibition in Haugesund Art Gallery, but this example was stolen shortly after arriving at the showroom and has not been reported to be returned. Some art experts have argued that the work on this painting was started in Spain and completed much later in Norway. There has been some controversial debate on the actual date of death of Felix Fiigeschou. Some argue that he faked his own death to escape his difficult life situation and carried worked in a secret location, always dating his work pre 1633. We regret to inform that this item has been sold.
