The Twilight Princess

n the past year, I have written a space oddyesy that began with my photo of a figure entering an alien landscape titled “Alone In An Alien Universe.” Later we find out his name is Ged and he has been deployed to rescue a regal princess that lives in another galaxy far far away…... He has explored many planets and encountered unbearable hardships and has been thwarted by evil forces on his quest to find the lost princess. I could only photograph images of the various places she has been held captive, but today with the help of a more powerful telescope, I have been able to photograph the lonely and abandoned princess in a rock garden as she ponders her fate. Our princess is a poet and leaves notes hoping someone will soon rescue her before her spirit withers from loneliness, abandonment and the terror of a horrible fate. Under one of the rocks in this garden prison she has placed a note that describes her mourning of the life and loved ones she may have lost forever. Here is the poem she leaves for Ged, her rescuer that is very close to finding her after exploring this planet and fighting the demons that will unlock the gates of her private hell. The note reads as follows: “Heart, whom will you cry out to? More and more alone, you make your way through the unknowable human beings. All the more hopeless perhaps since it holds to its old course, the course toward the future, that’s lost. Happened before. Did I mourn? What was it? A fallen berry of joy, still green. But now my oak of joy is breaking, what is breaking in storm is my slowly grown oak of joy. The loveliest thing in my invisible landscape, helping me to be seen by angels, that are now invisible.” Poem- “Mourning” Ranier Maria Rilke Paris, July, 1914
