The Serpent Guide - diptych

For a number of symbols that are interpreted in psychological terms, the serpent lore appears in many ancient cultures. From the Sumerians to the Maya of pre-columbian America to more modern symbols as the caduceus of Hermes in medicine, guiding souls to healing and rebirth. This is also a symbol for Eve and the 'fall' of men in the Christian mythos. In esotheric terms, the serpent is a symbol for kundalini fire rising to awaken. It is meant as a meditation symbol.

I found these organic patterns and textures on a rock at Boynton Canyon in Sedona, Arizona. I photographed it and then added a digital mirror effect to create a diptych poster. The original rock contains traces of malachite, azurite, copper and turquoise.
