If people on this forum had confidence in their work they would'nt be so thin skinned. But don't worry, I see someone's mum is censoring the posts so that no precious little feelings get hurt.

This unhappy schmo picked you to rip apart. His words sound smooth and experienced, but behind them is someone trying to put something over on someone else. You knw, like Hitler, who wanted everyone to be like him:) I have my work on another site, also; where you're allowed to rate work. Someone gave me a 4 out of five on a photo because they could not see all of the wings on a dragonfly. I cropped it that way for a reason. I like this lady, so it did not matter to me. She had her own view on it, and at least she did not come across as superior to everyone else, and all knowing, which is the way this person seems. Art is something different to each and every one of us. A lot of people create portraits from photos and make quite a good living at it. A lot of my work comes straight out of my head, and some does not. When I use someone else's photo for reference, I ask permission, unless I'm just looking for structure, or markings, etc. Mr. Critic, please go away.
Artist Reply: Thanks for your feedback Cathy. I have turned off comments from anon guests now, as I cannot be bothered reading this persons comments anymore. I agree about them being gutless too.

Was there anything rude about what I posited? Or is this forum open only to fawning blandishments? My criticism is measured...and valid. I'm just trying to help you widen your horizons TJ. Don't believe me? Take it to a bona fide gallery and ask them.
Artist Reply: I think non constructive would cover it. I draw portraits from photos, that's what I do. And as I said before, my portfolio here, is practise drawings, in between doing portraits of children, animals etc for friends. I have no problem with criticism, as long as it is constructive. Art is very much varied, and just because somebody does something different to your idea of art, doesn't mean it isn't art. I suggest you maybe think about signing up and posting some of your own work, then at least we would know why you say the things you do and who you are.

Pay no attention to this rude person. Anonymous is just jealous of a good job done on Johnnie. I see nothing constructive about their comment. Ann
