Self Portrait at the Opera House

Media: Acrylic on Canvas Board 16 X 12 Inches 40.5 X 30.5 cm This is the only self portrait of the artist to date. It depicts him sitting on the steps of the Sydney Opera House during the late night hours while overlooking the Quay. Considering the location, the scene is oddly lacking of other people, even in the background. Colours are dark and though brush strokes are heavy and agitated, and the stars bleed their colours, the serene figure brings a calm to the piece signifying the artist’s impending departure from a sentimental setting.
