Light Wave

"Light Wave"" Acrylic on Bristol board. Abstraction of waves, foliage and sound. His candid memoir became a nightmare of gritty warnings until, one day, he threw the script into the sea. He watched the frothy tips of waves melt his life into bubbles. A sea gull voiced concern and a teen carrying a surf board passed. The music from the youth's headphones was turned up so loud that the author heard chirping tones that seemed as distant as a passing alien space craft. The white light of the hot dog stand glared at the ocean reflections and his foot became tangled in seaweed. The scene about him radiated energy and light and strength for the first time in many years. He bought a soft drink, sat on the sand, watched the waves roll in and out and in and out and in and out and decided not to kill himself after all. He watched the sunset instead.
