I wanted to accomplish two things with this first revision of The Conundrum. The first was to make the sculpture out of more metals to add more color variation. The second was to make it a lot harder to assemble. (As it happens, the third and totally unintended result is that it's much harder to produce!) I ended up making The Conundrum II out of 21 interlocking pieces using a much wider variety of metals; the list includes brass, copper, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, magnesium, titanium, tungsten, aluminum bronze and bearing bronze. The 21st piece (and 12th metal), completely hidden inside, is a one inch cube of solid SILVER BULLION. As before, each piece of this sculpture is a unique geometric form with a wonderfully smooth "fit and feel" and selected pieces are given a patina for added color." This sculpture is expensive and would only appeal to an eclectic art/puzzle collector. Most people will be unable to learn the sequence of assembly without using the instructions each time.
