Last Friday I entered this photograph into "The Taste of Radnor" photo competition. Last night I was notified that it won FIRST PLACE in the PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER'S category! This was a shot that I did have a vision for. It was taken at Chanticleer, a pleasure garden in Radnor, PA four years ago when my grandson Gabriel, was three years old. On a previous visit, I saw how the sun wrapped around and backlit this copper beech tree. A couple of weeks later, I took Gabriel back to this hidden spot, late, one afternoon while he was here visiting. I used an old, manual Minolta with a fish-eye lens. I think I shot it with Kodak, TRI-X 400, or Ilford 400. My son hand-printed it in the darkroom. No digital manipulation at all.
