Funky Abstract Coach Leather Bag

Funky Abstract Coach Leather Bag

This is one of my OOAK - (One Of A Kind) funky handpainted handbags. This particular piece was made by Coach, a wonderful, classy name in leather bags. I believe this particular style was called the COACH MINI- SHOPPER Hand Bag/Purse (Style#: 9993).

I also believe it retailed for over $200.00 when it was new. I purchased it second-hand, and although it was only very slightly worn, I covered the worn areas with the paint, so you can't tell it was worn at all.

The original color of the bag is a kind of seafoam green-gray, which you can see on the authentic "coach" leather hang tag, which I left unpainted so you can see what the original color was. The COACH Serial Number is: K6D-9993.

It features a magnetic snap closure, Inside zippered pocket and an inside open slip pocket, a 48-inch adjustable and detachable shoulder strap with (2) small brass trigger clasps on each end of the strap, Roomy interior and Rounded oval bottom.

To create this piece, I thinned down acrylic paints to a very thin consistency of glazes, and then applied them to the bag in many layers starting with the thinnest layers first. This "prepped" the bag for the later layers of pigment. Because the paint I used was so thin, the paints act more like a "dye" on the leather bag so it won't be stiff, and the paint won't "chip" off... the leather is still VERY pliable and soft - not stiff at all.

Some of the colors I used are: black, white, magenta, cadmium red, yellow, and cobalt teal.

I signed it on the inside.

This original, "one of a kind" art bag will command attention and be a conversation starter wherever you go with it!! All your friends will wonder where you got it! By Diane G. Casey
