the beauty of suffrage

this image was created digitally and shows a typical ruin of a cornish tin mine. as any visitor to cornwall knows, there are dozens of these derelict tin mine steam engine houses littered across the countryside and their silhouette is almost an emblem for the county. they possess a certain majesty and initially i was attracted to this as a subject for a picture. then whilst researching this particular ruin at levant i discovered that a terrible tragedy had befallen dozens of men who had worked here in the late 1800s when the beam lift which carried them to the bottom of the tin seams sheared and plummeted into the darkness. it kind of tempered the image i had planned....(this image is protected by worldwide copyright. it is wholly the property of pixagraph publishing uk and its use is strictly licensed. pixagraph publishing vigorously pursues any party who reproduces in whole or part any such image or in any way violates said copyrights. permission to use any image may be granted subject to application to www.pixagraph.com)
