The Heroes of Telemark

The Vemork action is considered one of the most heroic sabotage acts of World War II. The Germans were perfecting the basis for a nuclear weapon before 12 men stopped them. The outcome of the war would have been different if this mission had failed.

Artist Reply: The Vemork is in SW Norway a few miles west of Rjukan. its the WW2 plant used for the production of deuterium oxide, D2O or 2H2O an isotope of Water. the isotope is heavier than pure water, thus heavy water
