This painting depicts a bunch of misfits in all their fine glory - they've really dressed up for the occasion. When you spend time working on a painting and if you don't get enough distance from it occasionally - you end up hating it. Which is how I felt about this painting - but now having seen it smaller scale on the computer screen it doesn't look as bad as I imagined. The models are all doing various things - sucking on a green ice lolly, frying eggs in a bear mask, taking drugs, putting a gun in your mouth and most importantly playing a 'guitar' with one hand while chomping on a stick of 'celery'. Everyday banal activities really.
