Shawl Dancers

24x36in. on stretched canvas Created using only a teaspoon. NO BRUSHES were used. I was fortunate to attend a Pow Wow and photographed many of the dancers. These dancers so special. They try to dance softly and make the fringe on their shawls swing back and forth to the music. Each lady wears the shawl that represents their individual tribe. Each shawl is hand made and heavily decorated with yarns and beading. Price $250.00 All rights reserved by the artist.

Lovely work! I attend PowWows about once a year if I can. Lucky when you can take photos, as sometimes it's forbidden. They can take your film or disk even. Nice description of a Fancy Shawl Dance. I like them better than the Jingle Dancers for the women, but like the Men's Grass Dancers best for the males. I love the Grand Entrance Dance as well when they all come down, the old and the young. Just beautiful to see.
