done on rice paper using brush and Chinese calligraphy ink in very cursive (cao) style, 22' by 28' This is an ancient Chinese nostalgic poem by the great poem Li Bai (701-762). The translation is: So bright a gleam on the foot of my bed -- Could there have been a frost already? Lifting myself to look, I found that it was moonlight. Sinking back again, I thought suddenly of home.
