Christ in Gethsemane

This painting is intending to show the suffering of Christ in the garden of Gethsemane. We are told in Scripture that "His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground" and that "there appeared an angel unto Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

This is very sensitively painted, and there are wonderful almost abstract aspects to the dreapery and the angel's robes...the landscape elements are very imaginatively done...the angel's hand is translucent, even! Very nicely done, very sincere.
