Garden of Vanity

This piece features two young boys and inspired a recent RP of of mine. I decided to draw a pair of pretty French boys sitting in a Royal rose garden. Of course, I knew I wanted one to be a prince--because I just love snobby, spoiled princes--and the second would be a peasant of somesort. But as I continued to draw, other possibilities seemed to arise. The dark-haired boy looks like he could be foreign, Greek, perhaps. He also doesn't look dirty or thin, which indicates he's been well-kept--perhaps the prince has taken him in to care for him. While I was working on the sketch I couldn't get what the prince might be saying out of my head: "Kiss my feet, barbarian!" And by the look on the other boy's face he could be thinking various things. I suppose it depends on his personality and the perspective of the viewer. I really like it when people view my drawings in different ways. I put symbols in a lot of my art both intentionally and unintentionally, which is a little strange.
