Earlier this year we visited this place for our first time. (See Grand Park 6-1-06) We had seen this gigantic meadow, (1 1/2 mi. long and 3/4 of a mi. wide), from a distance on other hikes and wanted very much to be there. Due to the heavy winter snows, there was still snow around in June. We had heard from others that this was the place to see wild flowers in unbelievable abundance. So last week's hike had a distinct purpose...and we missed the flowers by at least a week!!! We didn't expect to see the mountain, but she graced us with her presence. It is a 3 1/2 mile hike to get there and we hiked at least half a mile into the meadow before we stopped for lunch. What an amazing place!!! Will try to time it right next year....
