Fringed Gentian

Fringed Gentian- The bud of this flower unfolds into a lovely clear blue flower with four fringed petals spreading at the end of the narrow funnel-shaped throat. It prefers low meadows and moist open places, blooming from late summer well into the fall.Being an annual,it should not be picked but left to seed itself.Done in Watercolors by Merilyn Carpenter 7/22/06
