In September 2005, several local businesses and Islanders hosted "A Day at the Docks" - A celebration of Hatteras Island Watermen. Part of the day included a parade of sorts of the commercial, charter and private fishing vessels, ending in the Harbor with a Blessing of the Fleet by Reverend Charles Moseley. This was a very special day, as the fishermen and watermen take their lives into their hands to provide food and entertainment for locals and visitors alike.
