Autumn Fey

This is the "Autumn Fey". I love this picture! It may be busy, but that's how I see Fall--your hair gets tossed around in the wind, the glorious colors, the harvest (yes, she's holding the fruits of our labors), the constant falling of leaves....can you tell it's my favorite season? This fairy wears the bold and dying colors of autumn....there are parts of her hair and skin that aren't as colored (to represent death) and she is accepting of that...she celebrates the whirlwind jumble of Fall joyously! This image is to appear in the "Fairies Through the Seasons" book. Mixed Media: watercolors, ink, salt (to give a textured and busy background of leaves), pastel, markers and colored pencil on 140 lb. 9 x 12 watercolor paper. (C)2006, Terrell Smith-Dorfeo.
