Well to start off, this painting was done for the anniversary of the Wizard of Oz Conference that we held at Inver Hills. (that is my college) The abstract syringes are made to represent the ruby red slippers and is far mroe flattering if seen in person. I first painted the piece and then added a gel on the red of the syringes so that when it would dry it would become transparent then I continued by adding red beads in with the gel to add a sparkle effect like the slippers. The syringes signify how many people use drugs to try and cope with their sadness and give themselves a taste of the happiness they once had. The painting itself is about 24"x32".
