By the late 1950s the "Johnny Popper" twin had seen its day, John Deere needed to make a change. In 1960, they introduced a completely new range of tractors that included the 1010, 2010, 3010, and 4010. Having taken ten years and $50 million in development costs they had to be successful if John Deere was to have a future. They were and they did.
