Spring Illumination

The painting was done in acrylic's and pastel onto a rough surface. The pastel was held to the painting by spraying on acrylic medium and letting it set. The layers of paint, pastel and medium are overlaid until the required effect is achieved. The subject was conceived from early morning painting expeditions while the bluebells were having there annual show. Early morning light in the woods is amazing, and magical. Painting size 24 x 18 inches.

Man alive - you have the ability to just transport some one to a whole serene place in time!

A delightful scene.... you are right, early morning light is magical! It was interesting to hear of your pastel/acrylic medium technique! Have you continued down this lane, and does it eliminate the need for glass on pastel paintings?

A lane, that's paved with luscious beauty. Good piece, John.
