Miss Golden Globe - Dakota Johnson (The 'rescued'

From a newspaper photograph... This one went a bit wrong to begin with! But rather than destroying the initial attempt and starting again, I decided to use it for a bit of mixed-media experimentation. I covered the original face with acrylic modelling paste - with some sand mixed in. The sand wasn't as fine as I thought it was, so the result was a very rough surface with the original face still showing through. I went over this with some fairly soft Rembrandt pastels. The result is quite unusual but I rather like it. (Certainly better than nothing - which is what I would have ended up with if I'd thrown the initial attempt away!) It's quite unnerving... When you first look at her, she has a young girl's face but, when you look closely, she has the skin of a 90 year old woman!!!

Interesting work!

Artist Reply: Thanks for the comments! Considering that this was a complete reject at one stage, I was quite pleased with the results of my experimentations!
