I drew this image of my nephew draped in a Superman cape for my sister Robyn. I got a few comments that the image is a "bit cartoony", but I can't stress it any longer. I've been told how different my style is, and it's a catch-22. You have your own voice, but it's an extreme voice. Therefore people either love what you're doing or they hate it--and it can quickly change from one to the other depending on if and when you can get successful doing it! So I'm finally learning to accept my style and just go with it. I'm using reference now, so that should help. But I think I've finally learned the difference between "draw like this so you will get better" and "draw like this because this is what everyone else is doing and yours sucks because it's different"...! LOL...
