Mt. Tsurugi in Twilight

This was the last image made on a very exciting and photographically rich day in the North Alps of Japan. My hiking companion and I spent most of the afternoon trying to reach this view of Mt. Tsurugi (we also had a grand view of two other main peaks from the same spot). We thought we would miss the sunset as a cloud bank drifted in and surrounded us in grey. But the clouds dropped below us in time for the sunset. As we were preparing to make the run and descent back to dinner I caught this last view as the twilight filled the sky. The original slide was made with my Pentax 6x7.

Peter this is a gorgeous shot!

Artist Reply: Probably one of my top 50 favourites. I was late for dinner but it was worth it.

Going back through your portfolio I remember what a wonderful photographer you are! So beautiful Peter!!

Artist Reply: Thank you, Charlotte. This is one of my better photos that I actually had scanned at a high resolution. Most of my photos here are low res scans or digitals captured with a 3.2 megapix camera. I'd like to spend the money on getting more of my medium and large format photography scanned. Maybe next year.
