In the Towers

Oil on canvas, approx 4' x 2.5'. This was some image that jumped into my head. There is something peaceful, yet hellish about it. I think of those that suffered in the Trade Towers when I look into this.

Powerful image, mysterious and it does have the "hellish" feel of people trapped in a dungeon or someplace beyond their control as a victim of circumstance. Since art is open to interpretation, your association to the trade towers certaintly fits the imagery, especially looking at the man trying to hold on to the woman who is off balance and the grim expression on the front figure's face. Very intense work with great colors and I like how you interwove the three characters to intensify the terror "in the towers", a day none of us will every forget!!

Artist Reply: Thank you for the in-depth insight. I really appreciate so many words. Your observations are inline with what I felt as I painted it too. I didn't intend a style per se, as much as I just wanted to interpret. The style of it came out of that. In fact, I liked that process so much that this painting represents effectively my conversion to this method. It became a transition piece for me as much as the incident might have been a transition for America, one can say. It's interesting.

I really cringe to think of the towers and the angst that they must have gone through. Your portrait however is awesome.
