Charles Gayarre and the French Opera (2005)

Charles Gayarre was a distinguished French speaking native of New Orleans who fought for the preservation of his culture against the onslaught of Americanization. The French Opera, too, lost it's battle for survival and burned to the ground in the 1920's. Both are symbols of a French presence, lost in time.
