A woman stands on the narrow platform waiting to board her train. The station is almost empty, her only companion is a bizarre stranger. This stylised image was inspired in part by Manet's Gare San Lazare, I've just always loved the vast perspective in that painting of the station. Originally I'd drawn this woman in her 1920's style clothing, (or at least MY version of it), and I needed to create an environment for her, the station suggested itself. Another stream of my inspiration can be found in Cream's "White Room"; the song suggested a dream like experience, an unattainable woman, and train station in black and white...
