Tsurugi Dake

Tsurugi Dake (Mt. Tsurugi), seen here in the light of the setting sun, is in Japan's North Alps and is 2,998 metres. The photograph was taken at the end of a long and exciting day trekking around the Tateyama area in the snow. Minolta 801si alpha, 250mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia 50, no filter, no colour manipulation. Oh my, I love the colors. Excellent filtering.

Artist Reply: Thanks Emily, but there was no filtering (did you mean use of filters or some kind of scanning technique?) Most of my photos are made without filters and then just scanned at the local lab. I might lighten the scans a little if I think they came out too dark. Otherwise, I try to leave things well alone and just do my best to get a good photograph at the moment I release the shutter.
