Potpourri is a French word, with its origin which is a borrowed translation from the Spanish word for a hearty stew of mixed meats, vegetables and other ingredients called "olla podrida," which literally means rotten pot. The word later evolved to refer to a fragrant mixture of dried flowers and herbs left to age and rot, or ferment over time to develop a scent. Potpourri has also been used to describe a miscellaneous mix of anything, from a diverse collection of books, music and art. MeaningfulLinesArt.com
