“Pain” (work in progress) 9 x 12 graphite on Strathmore 300 Bristol Smooth Paper. I use Pentel P205 mechanical pencils with Pentel 4H, 2H, H, HB, B, 2B, and 4B graphite. I don’t use any blending tools. I layer my graphite first using a 4H pencil and by making tiny overlapping circular motions. I then gradually increase my hand pressure as I move up in graphite to 2H, H, HB, etc. I am also paying attention to the values. For the pores of the skin, I first add the marks then with a kneaded eraser and a mono zero eraser, I add highlights by negative drawing (erasing). More to come soon.
