This was a painting I made for the Anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC, hosted by Michelle Obama in 2012. It was part of an Art auction effort to support the victims of the terrible tragedy of Fukushima the year prior. The Japanese word means "Hope." The painting sold as the highest bid in the entire auction.
