Skogsfrun (swedish) or the Lady of the Forest is a spirit of nature in Scandinavian folklore. She is a shapeshifter and can take the form of an animal or a beautiful woman. She rules over the deep, dark forests and their inhabitants, and especially capercaillies and deer are under her protection. If anyone should kill one of these animals without the Lady's permission they will feel her wrath.
