The Lamp

This work is part of the series 'Imaginary Rooms' that I started in the beginning of november 2005, in response of a surrealistic painting in the style of Giorgio De Chirico, that I saw hanging on the wall when I visited a friend. It will be the first time that I use visually recognisable elements in my artwork trying to set up a kind of communication with the viewer. Working method: I started developing this method during model class in 1995. As I wanted to be more accurate in my model drawing I started blind drawing, This is a technique where you look at the model and you stop looking at your paper. The next logical step for me was then beginning to draw without looking at reality. From 1996 I start using 'Écriture Automatique' as my main working method. I start from a blank sheet of paper where upon I draw immediately with Indian Ink on paper. In fact, I have no idea or plan what I'm going to create. That's exactly the state of mind that I want or need. I start drawing a few lines and soon a form dictates me what I have to draw next on the image to keep the composition in balance. Little by little the composition forms itself. Conceptual Ink Drawing and Watercolor Painting. Original artwork created by Sandro Cocco. This is a one of a kind artwork, created, drawn and painted by me. I always sign my work on the front of each artwork. I dispatch my work within two working days. Please note that International shipping can take up to 10 days to arrive, depending on its destination. © All rights reserved, Sandro Cocco.
