After seeing a 'portrait' of Poe here, I remembered I'd done a likeness many moons ago. This pencil sketch is from 1978. Yeah, I 'can' do normal. I've told folks this and they seem to fairly beam with skepticism. Seems folks like to do that when they can't do anything else. This sketch measures roughly 6 by 5 inches on regular bond paper. Yeah, Original Jones Art went into the 'way back machine' today here in northwest Austin, Texas.

VERY NICELY DONE CHARLES. YOU DO TERRIFIC REALISTIC WORK. GOOD TO SEE.

Artist Reply: So could Picasso even late in life if he wanted to, Joanie. Being able to replicate isn't exactly the same as 'create' though. Is style important? I don't know. Is individuality important? It is to me. As far as Poe is concerned, he's one of my favorite authors so it was natural for me to do a drawing of him. There's only that one old daguerreotype that everyone uses as a model. I tried to make him a little less severe and a little mellower than the photo. Thanks for your comment. :)

Rock on Charles oh man it look like Edgar.rightious

Artist Reply: Thanks, Ray! You can see I used to sign my drawings, etc., with my full name in cursive. Can folks read cursive these days, I wonder? I think I made him a bit mellower than he was on a usual day. :)
