03. Pienso en tu mirá

This is a painting inspired by the song "Pienso en tu mirá" by Rosalía. This song is from her album "El Mal Querer", and this album, ever since it came out, has been very important to me, and I've been wanting to make some artwork inspired by it. Why "Pienso en tu mirá"? Well, if any of you have pets, you know how important they can be to us. Most of us don't even see them as pets but more like part of our family. When I was hooked on this album I lost my cat, he was very, very important to me, he was like my spirit animal, I feel like we understood each other without needing words. I had a very deep, special bond with him. So, while I was mourning, feeling like I was dying, wondering why and blaming myself, the lyrics of this song resonated so much with me: When you go through the door I think you will never come back And if I don't hold you tight I feel it will be my fault It's been two years, I made my peace with it. It still hurts, of course, but I gave him the best life I could and I'd rather think of that. The painting it's not about my cat, but it's inspired by the song that, to me, has everything to do to my cat so, somehow, it's all conected. I think about your gaze, your gaze is a bullet pinned to the chest...

Very striking and well executed: a great combination of the detailed and broader watercolour brushwork effects.

I love the way you use watercolour. The colors you use, the contrast. You are so skillfull in observing and depicting form and depth. At the same time it's impossible for me to look at your images because of the horrific content.
