Captain's house

The Mediterranean Sea has always been a busy trade route throughout history. In the 18th and 19th centuries, especially the south of the Adriatic Sea, centrally located, was a center of transport to important sea ports such as Venice, Zadar, Bari and Dubrovnik. The ship captains were busy and got their money's worth. In order to make up for the long absence of their family, they built stately homes along the coast near their home base so that their family would quickly notice their arrival; the so-called "captain's houses". A number of these buildings still exist and some are now used as a second residence. Image size: 260 x 360 mm

Nice lav shadow. Fancy house. Looks comfortable. I could handle sitting there for an afternoon... read the paper... glass of wine. Heck... leave the bottle...

Artist Reply: Thanks James
