This piece is dedicated to the main character of "The Walking Dead" graphic novels & TV series -- Sheriff Rick Grimes of Kane County, GA, somewhere near Atlanta. In season 1 of the TV series, Rick is just a cop doing his duty when he gets seriously shot by an unknown 3rd suspect in a car chase. He is in the hospital for weeks recovering...in the meantime the zombie apocalypse happens & when Rick wakes up in the hospital alone it's a whole new world -- full of walking dead people. And the story goes on from there...Rick finds his family, becomes leader of their small survivor group, gets them through all kinds of mayhem & danger for the next 9 seasons...until Rick decides to sacrifice himself for the good of the group by blowing up a bridge he is on because a huge herd of "walkers" (zombies) are following him across to where they live...everyone thinks he died. Or did he? He gets rescued by the leader of the garbage people, since Rick got blown clear onto another shore, & gets taken away in a helicopter...but where to? Supposedly AMC is making some feature films starring Rick which will give us answers...but definite release dates yet unknown because of COVID-19.
