Expectation is 18x24" oil on canvas - This is my contribution to the #metoo movement. I tried to capture the feelings that many women have had using symbolic imagery. Defeat, oppression and struggle are represented by the vines and the fact that her back is turned toward the audience. The stained glass window is the church, which is often used as a weapon. The candles are the voices of those that came before. Despite all this, I also wanted to show hope. The flowers are the movement - the women who are finally coming forward. The butterfly is the metamorphosis and change that will someday come.
