The Jupiter

Like the "Leviathan", the "Jupiter" was one of four, 4-4-0, locomotives built together by Schenectady Locomotive works in New York, dismantled and shipped to the Central Pacific headquarters in Sacramento to , to be rebuilt in 1869. Like his brothers, he looked a bit frivolous, but they were the pinnacle of steam technology at the time. A replica of this locomotive has also been built. Image size: 260 x 360 mm

Now... this is a story, I know well... The running replica's of both the CP's Jupiter & UP's 119 perform reenactments of the Golden Spike meeting at Promontory, on a regular basis. Or they did... before half the world shut down...

Artist Reply: At first I could hardly believe that people build replicas of trains, but these were apparently iconic machines that belong on the tracks instead of in a display case
