The towers of Salzburg

Located on the border with Germany, on the river Salzach and with only 150,000 inhabitants, this city is the gateway to Austria. The charm lies not only in the numerous historical Baroque buildings and churches, but it literally breathes history and music, it looks like Vienna in a pocket format. It is not without reason that the city is famous as the birthplace of Mozart (his birth house is now a museum), where the Salzburger Festspiele are organized every summer. It is wonderful to walk across the vast squares and through the cheerful shopping streets. An attraction with the aftertaste of World War II is the residence of the musical family Von Trapp. The story of their flight after the Anschluss in 1938 became the basis of the musical film The sound of music. The house on Traunstraße 34 in Salzburg was occupied by SS leader Heinrich Himmler from 1938 to 1945. The house is managed by the Villa Trapp Foundation and it serves as a hotel and wedding venue.
