The Eye of the Brown Pelican

The Brown Pelican's vision while flying and fishing is extraordinary, as it crashes into the water and opens its scoop-like beak for fish. It is a marvel to watch but its numbers have diminished due to diminished habitats from development. It has adjusted and become quite adjusted to man and can be found sitting on docks begging treats from fishers everywhere. They are very social creatures and roost in the mangrove trees among colonies.
