Old fishermen's houses on Lesbos

This Greek island, near the Turkish coast, was not overrun by tourists when we visited it years ago. It has retained much of the authenticity and atmosphere of the past. Today, however, tourists are staying away because the island is overrun by refugees from the Middle East who cross in rickety boats from Turkey in hopes of a better life in Europe but are housed in pitiful refugee camps. The world is changing. Capture these moments while you can... keep looking for... and bringing us the beauty . J

Artist Reply: Many ancient villages have been preserved around the Mediterranean, a pity that they are increasingly being abandoned by young people looking for work and a more modern living environment.
